David Whatley

David is an Associate Non-Executive Director of North West Ambulance Service, with his accountancy career beginning as an Auditor at Pendle Borough Council and most recently as Group Chief Internal Auditor for GIAA – the executive agency of HM Treasury established in 2015 to improve the quality of internal audit provided to central Government, delivering internal audit services to 14 Government departments and 120 associated bodies such as the Department for International Trade, National Savings and Investment and the Office for Nuclear Regulation.

David is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy and achieved the Diploma Management Studies and is accredited as a Local Counter Fraud Specialist (LCFS). Previous roles have included being Head of Audit at the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and a Director at RSM Bentley Jennison.
